Behind Birch

Behind Birch

In a continuation of my explorations of the boreal forest, the box frame has proven to be challenging, especially given that my cutout creations are bound only by the edges of their shape. Numerous ideas have come to mind, yet, given the constraints of time, I had to choose just one of these ideas. A cutout came to mind with an idea of the forest as the ever-present environment that continues to inspire me through years of study and exploration. A grizzly looks out at us between birch trees. They are a flimsy barrier that offers scant protection from this intriguing, intelligent and formidable Northern megafauna.
